Brian "Red" Douglas Newman, Sr.

Brian “Red” Douglas Newman, Sr., 59, of Lewistown, passed away at 10:21 p.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born April 13, 1958, in Lewistown, he was a son of Mary E. Newman Powell, of Lewistown, who survives.

Brian was preceded in death by two sisters: Linda K. Cherry, Nov. 4, 2000, and Robin J. Newman, Nov. 23, 2000.   

In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his children, Brian D. Newman Jr., and Cherish Lynn Newman, both of Lewistown; and four siblings, Nancy Sowich and husband, William, of Reedsville, Vickie Kauffman and husband, David, of Lewistown, Thomas A. Newman and wife, Sally, of Lewistown, and Barry L. Newman and wife, Penny of Long Beach, Miss.

Brian worked for NASA for twelve years and later, was employed by Skanska, a Swedish international construction company, in medical-based construction.         

He was a little league all-star in his youth and loved baseball.  He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.   

A viewing will be held from 6 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, followed by a funeral service, with Pastor Vaughn Kanagy officiating. 

Private interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery.
