Charles W. Bell, 87, of Belleville, passed away at 12:45 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2018, at Valley View Haven.
Born Nov. 14, 1930, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Richard and Catherine (Smith) Bell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Charles is survived by: his sister, Glenda Erhard and husband, Gary, of Belleville; two nieces, Kathy Carter and husband, Brad, and Karen Gilbert and husband, David, both of Belleville; two great-nieces, April Carolus and husband, Matthew, of Belleville, and Amanda Spurlock and husband, Michael, of Lewistown; a great-nephew, Joshua Gilbert, of Columbus, Ohio; and great-great-nieces, Natalie and Addison Carolus.
He graduated from Yeagertown High School.
Charles served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict, and was assigned to the 97th Bomb Wing, Biggs Air Force Base, Texas.
He was a member of Vira Methodist Church, Lewistown.
Charles was employed as an elementary school teacher by the Red Lion Area School District in York, from which he retired.
He enjoyed traveling and visiting new places.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Pastor Gerald Peachey officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in Vira Methodist Cemetery, Long Lane, Lewistown.
