Charles E. “Charlie” Brought, 75, of Lewistown died at 2:49 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Feb. 9, 1940 in Lewistown he was a son of the late John H. and Nora G. (Knepp) Brought.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carlene Rhodes and a grandson, Matthew Fisher.
Charlie is survived by: his wife, Christina D. “Tina” (DeArment) Brought whom he married Oct. 19, 1973; his children, Jennette Brought and companion, Paul Melius, of Lewistown, Melissa Wakefield and husband, Greg, of Granville, Tonya Barger, of Bellefonte, April Hannon and husband, Ray, of McVeytown, Amy Swartz, of Elizabethtown, Carl Rhodes, of Strodes Mills, John Brought and companion, Natasha Austin, of Lewistown; his grandchildren, Nathan Shawver, Chris Pham, Nichole Bohn, Paul Melius, Joshua Hockenberry, Emilee Brought, Trever Wakefield, Larissa Hockenberry, Dane Wakefield, Owen Brought, Kylie Wakefield, Mikey Fisher, Ashley Hockenberry, Cody Barger, Jerry Barger, Jr., Aaron Brought, Elijah Fisher, Caleb Fisher, Hailey Austin, Shelby Austin, Joan Hannon, and Desirae Hannon; and 10 great-grandchildren and counting.
He was a 1958 graduate of Lewistown High School. He also took farming courses at the Penn State Agricultural building.
Charlie was a member of the National Guard.
Earlier in life he had been a farmer.
He had worked at Marlette Homes for 35 years. He also worked at the Wal-Mart. While working at Wal-Mart he was owner/operator of Brought’s Bait and Tackle Shop.
Charlie was a lifelong member of Evangel Baptist Church and the Brooklyn Hose Co.
He loved to hunt and fish, enjoyed gardening and was a hobby farmer and a great storyteller. First and foremost he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them. He often would host cookouts.
Charlie was a diehard Steelers fan and Penn State football fan.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 28 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. Randy Traxler officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
