I'm so sorry to hear about Dallas's passing. I respected him so much as a man and as a leader. When I was in the Boy Scouts, he not only taught us about scouting but also the real meaning of integrity, loyalty, and service. He didn't just teach us the Boy Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan...he lived all of those values every day. He demonstrated that someone could be caring and giving, yet firm, stern, and respected. We all looked up to him. To put it simply, he made me want to be a better person. This world will miss him, Shirley, Luella, and Ken...for they all contributed to us so much, and all helped mold many youths' lives...mine included. God bless.

Doug, Dana and Family,
Very sorry for your loss. Please know that Ed and I will be thinking about you and praying for comfort and peace. Unfortunately, Ed has an appointment at Hershey Medical Center on Saturday morning. His appointments usually take most of the day. Otherwise, we would be at the services. Dallas and Shirley were a very big part of our lives for many years. We think of them often. God Bless. Cathy

Was informed of Dallas's passing yesterday morning. Please accept my deeply felt sympathy in the loss of your father. On any given visit down to Yeagertown, I always enjoyed stopping by to see Dallas. He'd smile broadly inquiring "What brought you down this time Susie?" We always enjoyed a lot of fun and conversation at the Snook Reunions. Years ago, I think we walked every inch of the cemetery together haring our thoughts and memories. We sure went on an adventure, up to the side of the mountain to site of old Joe Snook's cabin! He showed us the way! Your dad was a good man and always a gentleman. Remembering his kind words shortly after my son was awarded Eagle. Always an Eagle! That "is" Dallas! My first thought was, how sweet it is that he would see your beloved mother and his loving parents on Christmas Day. God bless you all. Sincerely, Susan

Doug, Dana, and family,
I heard of Dallas' passing today and was saddened for the loss of a great man who had a profound impact on my childhood. Dallas and Shirley were an extra set of parents who were always there when we needed them across the yard, at Scouting activities, at church or anywhere else. I know that this is a difficult time for you all and hope that the thought that Dallas is at peace with his Lord gives you some comfort. Being far away means that I can't be there physically to express my condolences, but please know that I'll be thinking of you in this difficult time. I hope that my friend, mentor, and role model rests in peace knowing that he made the lives of many people better.

With love and prayers,
Edo Forsythe

I was informed of Dallas' passing early this morning. I spent the entire day playing back memories of him. And, of Shirley too. By the end of the day I don't think I got through half of them. I knew and loved them both from the time I could walk. All of a sudden South Dakota seems like a far off, lonesome place and I really wish I could be back in Pennsylvania, back home in Yeagertown. I'm sorry I won't be able to make it back for his services on Saturday. I will be thinking of you all that day.
For me, I will remember Dallas as a man who showed me what it meant to be unselfish in service and devotion to the welfare of others.
