Esther G. (Walls) Wagner

Esther G. Walls Wagner, 99, formerly of Lewistown passed away on Friday, September 22 at Valley View Haven, Belleville.

Born Sept. 6, 1918 in Orbisonia, she was a daughter of the late Olive (Gutshall) and Russell Mentzer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, William W. Walls, Sr.; son, William W. Walls, Jr.; six brothers; four sisters; one grandson, Greg Olson; one granddaughter, Tammy Rothrock; a son-in-law, Arthur Hudgins; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Walls.

She is survived by: her children, Carol Rothrock and husband, Charles, of Lewistown, Gary R. Walls, of Lewistown, and Judy Hudgins, of Alabama; sister, Grace Miller and husband, Donald, of Shirleysburg; brother, Merle Mentzer and wife, Maryann, of Shippensburg; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Early in life, she had worked at Arrow Shirt Factory, Fisher Electronics, in Milroy, FMC; and was a self-employed beautician at Esther’s Beauty Shop.

She was a member of Lewistown Christian & Missionary Alliance Church and taught Sunday school.

She loved growing flowers, making jewelry and Christmas ornaments. In her earlier years, she liked to go bowling. She was a great cook and baker.  Most of all, Esther loved her family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N Main St. Lewistown with Rev. Neil Breneman officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
