Frank A. “Joe” Zampelli, 77, of Lewistown died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born May 19, 1938 in Lewistown he was a son of the late Frank P. and H. LaRue (Barnes) Zampelli.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward E. Zampelli.

He is survived by: his wife, Joan C. (Krout) Zampelli, whom he married May 17, 1961; children, Angela Volz and husband, Ken, of State College, Lisa Jordan and husband, Kyle, of State College and Andrea Zampelli and husband, Matt Lipinski, of West Chester; seven grandchildren, Kira Jerzerick, Dominic Baronio, Kyle Volz, Marisa Daniel, Eleanor Jordan, Jameson Lipinski and Rowen Lipinski; one great-grandson, Jackson Daniel; sister, Shirley Sturtz-Davis, of State College; and brother, James J. Zampelli, of Harrisburg.

He served in the National Guard for nine years.

Joe was a 1958 graduate of Lewistown Vo-Tech. He also attended Blender Tongue Labs, Peavey School, Scientific Atlanta School and Motorola School.

Joe was owner/operator of Zampelli Electronics and Cabletronic, Inc.

He installed ground systems in churches, football fields and schools, including Juniata College graduation, Huntingdon and Juniata County Fairs and also did the paging and sound for the shows at the Grange Fair.

Joe was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

In his younger years he played in the accordion band for weddings and parties. He liked playing the organ and piano.

He also enjoyed displaying lights around his home at Christmas time.

Joe served on the JVB Advisory Board for 14 years, was a life member of the Elks Club, Fame Ambulance Service and Fame Fire Co., and life member of Belleville Fire Co.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown with Father William Weary officiating.

A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 30 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A private interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.

Memorials in Joe’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
