Fred C. Myers

Fred C. Myers, 92, formerly of Ferguson Valley Rd., Lewistown, passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Valley View Haven, Belleville.

Born March 28, 1924, in West Granville Twp., Lewistown, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Mary (Snyder) Myers.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Lois (Harvey) Myers, on Jan. 9, 2011; and a sister, Josephine Myers, and was the last of his immediate family.

Fred is survived by: two sons, Clifford L. Myers and wife, Diane, of Enola, and Allen F. Myers and wife, Beth, of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Rick Myers and wife, Kelly, Joshua Myers and wife, Adrian, Veronica Myers, Sara Buffington and husband, Michael, and Ken Biddle and wife, Amy; and five great-grandchildren.

Fred graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1941.

He was a self-employed farmer for 75 years. 

He was a devoted member of Ellen Chapel Church and the Service Class, treasurer of the church Sunday school for 52 years, and sang in the choir for over 60 years. 

Fred served as Judge of Elections for West Granville Township for many years; was a member of the Fort Granville Grange and past master chaplain; and member of the Mifflin County Holstein Association, where he was past secretary and treasurer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Feb. 16, at Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Rd., Lewistown, with Pastor Mark Hill officiating.

Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Weds., Feb. 15, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thurs., Feb. 16 at the church.

Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
