Harry L Walter

Harry L. Walter, 55, of Lewistown, passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer, at 6:49 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born on July 11, 1962, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Harry A. Walter and Shelley (Peffer) Walter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Billie Jo Groce.

He is survived by: his wife; Deborah L. (Groce) Walter, whom he married on Dec. 16, 1983; daughter, Chrystal Carlson, of Milroy, Deborah Hampton and fiance, Travis Mitchell, Dawn Walter and companion, Leonard Freed, both of Lewistown; siblings, Gary Walter and wife, Teresa, of Milroy, John Walter, of York, Joyce Snook, of Lewistown, Ruth Rhodes and husband, Larry, of Reedsville, Robert Walter Sr. and wife, Sharon, of Milroy, Kevin Walter, of Milroy; grandchildren, Kyle and Levi Hampton, Alexander Mitchell, Joshua and Olivia Freed.

Harry was the owner and operator of Paul’s Recycling from 1991 to 2017.

He was a graduate of Chief Logan High School.

He was a tractor collector, enjoyed spending time outdoors with family, especially grandchildren, picnicking, fishing, hunting and going on mountain rides. He had a heart of gold and would do anything to help anyone at any time.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, and from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. Richard Bender officiating.

Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
