John D. Moore

John David Moore, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2018. He was 87 years old, born Jan. 31, 1931.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Clarence Moore Sr. and Bessie Pearl (Corson); wife, Julia A. (Winslow) Moore; siblings, Donald Moore and Barbara Moore; step-mother, Grace Moore, and an infant son; John David Moore Jr., in 1961; and by his gram who raised him, Della Moore.

He is survived by: children, Troy A. Burkholder, and wife, Debi, of Pittsburg, CA., Daniel A. Burkholder, and wife, Miriam, of Mifflintown, Pamela J. Burkholder, and husband, Kenneth, of Williamsport, Susan C. Sipe, and husband, Keith, of Lewistown, Beth Bishop, and husband, Robert, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Carrie Dunn and husband, Doug, Serena Chapman, David Burkholder, Nicholas Alexander and fiance, Ashley, Hannah Alexander; great-grandchildren, Melania Stopper and husband, Eric, Caitlinn Chapman, Leah Chapman, Bryson Burkholder; brothers, Bill Corson and wife, Judy, of Lewistown, Dallas Moore and wife, Patricia, of Lewistown, and Clarence Moore Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Reedsville.

John was called to Korea in his earlier years. He was in the U.S. Army and National Guard.

He worked as a laborer at Avtex Fibers and retired from Specialty Yarns.

John enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He liked being outdoors, going fishing and picnics at Penn Roosevelt Park.

He was a member of the Lewistown Assembly of God church.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Sproull officiating.

Interment will be held with military honors at Mt. Rock Cemetery.
