Marvin W. Mundy

Marvin W. Mundy, 82, of Lewistown, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at his home.

Born Dec. 24, 1933 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Alice (Schaffer) and Marvin W. Mundy Sr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna (Baltzley) Mundy on April 24, 2012.

Surviving are two sons, James Mundy and wife, Shari, of Lewistown, and Marvin Mundy and wife, Deborah, of Odenton, Md.; grandchildren, Katlin Mundy and Lindsay Vogt and her husband, Jared, both of Lewistown, Daniel Slacum and his wife, Sunny, of Linthicum, Md., Deanna Fisher, of Albany and Kyle Mundy, of Odenton, Md.; step grandchildren, Amy Hirakis and fiancé, Nolan Meeks, of Harrisburg, Rebecca Bolling and fiancé, Keith, of McVeytown and Raymond Bolling and wife, Chastity, of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Quin Vogt, Robert, Alexandria and Anthony Fisher, Austin, Gavin and Gage Slacum, Alani and Benjamin Meeks and Lilian and Oswin Bolling.

Also surviving are his sisters, Donna Sunderland and husband, Tom, of Granville, Marie Baumgardner, of Lewistown and Ann Mort and husband, Bob, of Mifflintown.

Marvin was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War.

In his earlier years, he was employed as a meat cutter for Pantry Pride in Maryland. In 1979, he returned to Lewistown and owned/operated The Hofbrau until 1994 before retiring to Florida.

Marvin recently had returned to Lewistown and was a member of Brooklyn Hose Co. 13, Lewistown Moose Family Center 143 and the VFW Post 7011. He was an avid golfer and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 23, at the Altar on Jacks Mountain Road between McVeytown and Belleville. The VFW Post 7011 honor guard will provide military rites.

Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
