Milton R. Moyer

Milton R. Moyer, 74, of Milroy, passed away at 6:24 am., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born August 22, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Milton G. Moyer and Maxine (Packard) Moyer, who survives.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Moyer.    

In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his wife; Patricia M. (Slemons) Moyer, whom he married on July 10, 1975; children; Scott Moyer, Dee Lerch and husband, Fred, and Karri Stahl, all of Lewistown, Robert (Bob) Moyer, of Milroy, Shannon Lash, of Fla.; his sister, Maxine Freed and husband, Randy, of Salunga; grandchildren; Austin, Hunter and Sierra Moyer, Nathan and Eric Lerch, Shawna and Carl Sheaffer, Taylor Norris and Makenna Stahl; and great-grandchildren, Jaden Rehrer, J.D. and Triden Downer, and Haylie and Levi Lerch.

Milton was a graduate of Kishacoquillas High School, Class of 1961.

He served in the U.S. Navy, during the Cuban Crisis, from 1961-1965.

Milton worked as a foreman, then was a supervisor in the Melt Shop, retiring from Standard Steel; and later, worked as a consultant for Resco Brick Co.

He loved his family; especially spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dogs, Jersey and Sadie.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, riding his Harley motorcycle, and was an avid wood worker and liked building furniture. 

A receiving of friends and family will be held from 6-8 pm.,  Friday, Dec. 15 at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St, Lewistown.

A memorial service, with VFW Post 7011 military honors, will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Navy Captain Chaplain, William McEllroy, officiating.
