Nelvin E. Stoner

Nelvin E. Stoner, 83, of McClure, passed away at 6:46 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.   

Born May 29, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late James and Beulah (Shawver) Stoner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Francis (infant), Pearl, Clare, Vivian, and Bernice.

He is survived by: his wife, Geraldine (Wray) Stoner; children, Debra Scyoc and husband Barry, of Lewistown, and Barry Stoner and wife, Carol, of McClure; five grandchildren, Candy Burkey and husband Steve, Shane Scyoc and wife, Linda, Aaron Stoner and wife, Lucy, Jesse Stoner, and Patrick Stoner; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Amber.

Nelvin was an Air Force veteran and also served in the National Guard.

He was employed by Standard Steel in the Melt Shop, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of Lewistown Assembly of God Church.

Nelvin enjoyed golfing and going fishing with his church buddies.

Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29 and from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30, at Lewistown Assembly of God Church, 160 Summit Dr., Lewistown.  The funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating.

Interment will take place at Belltown Cemetery, McClure, with military honors by VFW Post 7011.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham.
