Thomas Charles White

Thomas Charles White, 77, of Yeagertown died at 1:31 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at Golden Living Center William Penn.

Born July 11, 1938 in Altoona he was the son of the late John Samuel White and Eleanor Jean (Kennedy) White who survives.

In addition to his mother he is survived by: his wife, Miriam Joyce (Crabtree) White, whom he married May 16, 1959; his children, Amy Hunter and husband, Tim, and Robyn Laub and husband, Mark, both of Lewistown and John White and wife, Kimberly, of Mifflintown; his brother, Robert J. White and wife, Linda, of Granville; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Altoona High School.

Tom had worked as a superintendent in the heat treating department at Standard Steel for 40 plus years.

He was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church serving as chairman on various committees.

Tom was also a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #203 where he earned a Masonic Scouting Award, was past master at Lewistown Lodge, Harrisburg Consistory and Altoona Shriners. He was active in the Boy Scouts for over 40 years serving as a scout master for 27 years, OA Visual member and lodge advisor, Shawnee District Committee member, Council Camping chairman, Council president, Silver Beaver Award; and also involved in the Girl Scouts - order of the flame.

Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15 at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

A viewing will be held from 6 – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 with a Masonic service around 8 p.m. at the funeral home.         

Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
