Arthur R. Tomlinson, 85, of Reedsville, passed away at 7:16 a.m., Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born January 15, 1933, in Chester, he was the son of the late Arthur and Eleanor (DeHaven) Tomlinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Pamela Ann Tomlinson.
Arthur is survived by: his wife Beverly (Patterson) Tomlinson, whom he married May 8, 1954; daughters, Linda L. Goss and husband, Richard, of Milroy, Beverly M. McClellan and husband, Ed, of Lewistown, and Susan B. Pfirman and husband, Dustin, of Milroy; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Eric, Doug, Matt, Chris, Jen, Dan, Jess, and Katie; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Harbst and husband, Kenneth, of Aston Township, Pa.
He was valedictorian of his Ridley Park High School graduating class and earned his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Drexel University.
He was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves from May 1956 to August 1963, assigned as a nontactical unit officer with the Engineer Student Officer Detachment at Fort Belvoir, Va. He was also captain of his Army Reserve group within the 103rd Engineer Battalion in Philadelphia.
Arthur was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, where he was active in Stephens Ministries and The Matthew Fund.
He was employed as a chemical engineer with the American Viscose Corporation, then Avtex Fibers, and lastly, at Lewistown Specialty Yarns, from which he retired.
After retirement, he served as an ombudsman for the Juniata Valley Mental Health/Mental Retardation Program.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the funeral home, with Pastor Vicki Elmer officiating.
Interment will take place at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
