Betty Jane Dunmire, 95, of McVeytown, passed away at 9 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at her home.
Born July 7, 1923, in Longfellow, she was a daughter of the late Grant Sherman and Annie (Huffman) Yoder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Harold Luther Dunmire, in 1987; and siblings, sisters, Luella Kauffman, Myra Shirk and Esther Mort; and brothers, Eugene, William, Theodore, Guy, Glenn and Lester Yoder. She was the last of her immediate family.
Betty is survived by: sons, Joseph H. Dunmire and wife, Sandi, and Daniel S. Dunmire and wife, Sue Ann, both of McVeytown; six grandchildren, Cassi Dunmire and companion, Rich Bickle, of New Cumberland, Enid Dunmire-Swinson and husband, Luke, of Pottstown, Andrew Dunmire and wife, Melinda, of Mechanicsburg, Jennifer Howe and husband, Ryan, of Portland, Ore., Kurt Dunmire, of Grass Valley, Calif., and Nathaniel Dunmire, of Daly City, Calif.; three step-grandchildren; Michael Horning, of McVeytown, Jodi Little and husband, David, of Dillsburg, and Matthew Horning and companion, Carly Schlegel, of Reedsville; five great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1941.
She was a member of Pine Glen Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and a charter member of Calvary Bible Church in Lewistown.
She worked at Dunmire's Dairy in McVeytown, the family business. Her greatest pride and joy was her children and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at the Pine Glen CMA Church, 1058 State Route 103 North, Lewistown, with Rev. Wayne Spriggs officiating.
Interment will take place at Mattawana Cemetery at a later date.
