C. Glenn Selfridge Sr., 92, of Reedsville, passed away peacefully at 11:52 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born January 15, 1926, in Reedsville, he was a son of the late William Plummer Selfridge and Amanda Jane (Gallagher) Selfridge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Delores (Williams) Selfridge, on May 9, 1996; his brother, Robert Eugene Selfridge; infant sister, Ada Alice Selfridge; and sisters, Maud Adell Selfridge and Beulah Madaline Selfridge.
Glenn is survived by: his wife, Dorothy (Yoder) Selfridge; children, Chester G. Selfridge Jr. and wife, Lori, of Reedsville, Donna J. Spangler-Boop and husband, Thomas, of Sunbury, Gail E. Strock and husband, R. Dennis, of Belleville, and Sharon Hugendubler and husband, Steven, of Reedsville; ten grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Blake, Justin, Kevin, Evan, Aaron, Ben, Kate and Matthew; and ten great-grandchildren.
Glenn graduated from Reedsville High School.
He was a member of Reedsville United Methodist Church and a member of the choir.
Early in life, Glenn was a self-employed farmer. Later, he worked at Abbott’s Dairy in Belleville, and lastly, at Dean’s Foods in Belleville, from which he retired after 22 years.
Glenn loved music and was well known for building finely crafted dulcimers and mountain banjos. He was a member of the Seven Mountains Dulcimer Society, Blue Juniata Chorus, Milroy Lions Club, Fort Granville Grange 1902, and Senior Extension, through Penn State Cooperative Extension.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Reedsville United Methodist Church, 60 S. Logan St., Reedsville. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., at the church, with Pastor Jean Ward officiating.
Interment will take place at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.
