Christopher Douglas Barger, 20, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2019, after fighting a brave battle with addiction.
Born Feb. 23, 1998, in Lewistown, he was a son of Matthew Barger and fiancee, Jenna Knepp, of Lewistown, and Holli Barger and fiance, T.J. Garver, of Mifflintown, who survive.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Steven Barger, and an uncle, Nicholas Barger.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by: paternal grandmother, Mary E. Barger, of Lewistown; maternal grandparents, Mike and Beth Reed, of Reedsville; and brothers, Seth Barger, of Seattle; and Drew Barger, of Mifflintown.
Christopher graduated from Mifflin County High School, Class of 2016, and was currently attending Penn State University, Harrisburg campus.
He was employed at The Meadows Psychiatric Hospital as an aide.
Christopher enjoyed reading, learning new things, meeting people and helping others. He loved dogs and had a kind, generous heart.
A receiving of friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor John Reed officiating.
