David C. Randolph

David C. Randolph Sr., 90, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019, at his home.

Born Aug. 16, 1928, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late J. Clyde and Grace (Fisher) Randolph.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Baker.

He is survived by: a wife, Gladys H. (Swartz) Randolph, whom he married Oct. 27, 1951; children, David C. Randolph Jr., of Lewistown, Edwin L. Randolph, of Lewistown, Rebecca D. Snyder and husband, Daniel, of Lewistown, and Linda K. Grassmyer and husband, Allen, of Milroy; five grandchildren, Brian Randolph, Melinda Litz, Blake Snyder and wife, Kendall, Matthew Grassmyer and fiance, Celina Joos, and Susan Randolph; four great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; siblings, Glenda Harbst, of Lewistown, Joyce Wagner and husband, Marty, of Pittsburgh, Gerald Randolph and wife, Wanda, of Idaho, and Larry Randolph and wife Linda, of Lewistown.

David was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1946.

He was a member of the Ellen Chapel Church.

David entered the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served in the Korean Conflict. Later, he joined the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Air National Guard.

Earlier in life, he owned and operated his own coal business. He also worked at Standard Steel, where he later retired.

He was an avid walker, even into his upper 80s. He would often donate blood to the Red Cross. He enjoyed volunteering at the church for all sorts of activities. The family was always number one and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at Ellen Chapel Church, 11798 Ferguson Valley Road Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Mark Hill officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011.
