David Robert Zellers

David Robert Zellers, 55, of Lewistown, formerly of Kutztown, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2018

Born Jan. 28, 1963, in Allentown, he was the son of Robert and Jean (Newhart) Zellers.

He is preceded in death by: grandparents, Russell and Isabell Newhart, Walter and Emily Zellers: aunts, Joan Kohler, Deborah Newhart; a niece; baby Zellers.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by: daughter, Aixia Zellers; brother, Ty Zellers; uncle, Ralph Kohler; nephews, Dylan and Cole Zellers; sister-in-law, Sherry Zellers.

He was a Kutztown High School graduate, Class of 1980.

David was a member of St. John’s UCC, in Fullerton. Boy Scout up to Eagle Scout, Troop 63, son of Legionnaire Post 217, in Topton, PA, Mason Lodge 203.

He worked as an advanced appraisal researcher for the Frederick Real Estate Group in Allentown, from 1996 until he retired in 2017.

David was known by all his friends as “River Dave.” He was a lover of the outdoors and nature. He enjoyed going on kayaking and boating trips. David belonged on the river, growing up along the Delaware River and eventually ended up on the Juniata River. He loved spending time with friends and family.

A receiving of friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A memorial service with Masonic services will be held at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Donald Wise officiating.
