Dorothy (Williams) Goss, 93, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, passed away in her sleep at 1:20 p.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017.  

Born December 27, 1923, in Marstellar, Cambria County, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Farrell) Williams.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by:  her husband, John Reed Goss, Jr. on January 19, 2008; and five sisters, Margaret McMullen, Mae Bay, Alva Welsh, Elizabeth Harper, and Delores Selfridge.  

She is survived by: her children, John R. Goss, III, of Chambersburg, and JoAnn M. Goss-Gardner and husband, Robert W. Gardner, of Meeker, Colorado; two grandchildren, Alexander Grant Gardner and wife, Kylee, of Meeker, Colorado, and Kyle Ethan Gardner and his companion, Sara Markham, of Richmond, Va.; and three great-grandchildren, Gracee, Amelia, and Brooks Gardner, the children of Alexander and Kylee.

She graduated from Derry Township High School in Mifflin County.

Dorothy was a member of the Little Valley Presbyterian Church where she served as a ruling elder and a trustee, and was a member of the King’s Daughters Sunday School Class. 

Earlier in life, she was employed as a clerk by Standard Steel Corporation and later, by the Mifflin County Commissioners in the finance office, from which she retired.

With her husband, they owned and operated Goss Farms in Dry Valley before moving to the Valley View retirement community.

Dorothy was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a volunteer at the Mifflin County Library and local Meals-on-Wheels.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, at the Little Valley Presbyterian Church, 1392 Vira Rd., Lewistown, with Reverend James P. Bricker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Interment will take place in Little Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy’s name may be made to: Little Valley Presbyterian Church, 1392 Vira Rd., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
