E. Jean Karstetter, 94, of Lewistown, passed away at 10:22 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Ohesson Manor.
Born Oct. 8, 1925, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Anna (Maurer) Karstetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Emma Gro, Betty Gingerich, Mary and Catherine Karstetter, and John, Charles and James Karstetter, and a nephew, Robert M. Karstetter, whom she lovingly raised. Jean was the last of her immediate family.
Jean is survived by a niece, Anna R. Hesser, of McVeytown, whom she helped raise.
Jean graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1944.
She was a member of Highland Park United Presbyterian Church, City Hook and Ladder Fire Company, Lewistown Women of The Moose, and a social member of the Lewistown VFW.
Jean was employed as a clerical employee for the G.C. Murphy Company in downtown Lewistown for 31 years, and later worked at Empire Kosher Poultry for seven years.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 U.S. Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Pastor Helen Kester officiating.
Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
