E. Ivon (Ford) Harpster

E. Ivon Harpster, 94, formerly of Burnham, went to be with her Lord and Savior, at 5:06 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.

Born April 4, 1923 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Cletus and Ivon (Dorsett) Ford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Harpster, on Sept. 28, 1995 and a sister, Anna Laura Ford.

She is survived by: her daughters, Jane Pursel and husband, Tim, of Fairless Hills, Joan Henry, of Wilmington, Delaware, and June Harpster-Uson, of Burnham; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Dalby and Vivian Tully and husband, Francis, both of Burnham, and Deanna Rhodes, of Harrisburg; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Cease Harpster, of Belleville.

Ivon was a graduate of Burnham High School, Class of 1940.

Earlier in life, she was a clerical worker at Arrow Shirt Factory for 31 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a very active life member and the oldest member of her church, Walnut Street UMC, where she was the church organist, choir director and taught Sunday school for 50 years. Ivon had a strong faith. She also was a member of Arrow Retirees (ACTWV) and a Hospice volunteer for 20 years.

A viewing will be held from 10 – 11 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Burnham, with Pastor Chris Lutz and Rev. Richard Rogers officiating.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
