Earnest V. Diehl, 84, of Lewistown, passed on to his eternal rest at 1:45 a.m., Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, at his home.
Born May 21, 1934, in Lyleville, Clearfield County, he was a son of the late Homer and Roxie (Glass) Diehl, of Flinton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sylvia Sweet and Donna Blair.
Earnest is survived by: his wife of almost 52 years, Marlene (Good) Diehl, of Lewistown and formerly of Nampa, Idaho; daughter, Alana Porch and husband, Joe, of Lewistown; sons, Curtis Diehl and wife, Lori, of Flinton, and Aaron Diehl and wife, Stephanie, of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Justin Porch and wife, Kirstie, Jakob Porch, Felicia Porch, Alia Diehl and Cadence Diehl; a great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Porch; and siblings, Phyllis Koch, of Whitehall, Henry Diehl, of Andreas, and Linda Warner, of Coalport.
He graduated from Reade Township High School and served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. Later, he earned his bachelor's degree in Accounting and Religious Studies from the College of Idaho in 1966.
He worked at the Viscose plant in Lewistown until the 1972 flood; the Mifflin County Redevelopment Authority; Fisher's/Sanyo Electronics; Kinney Shoes; and was a salesman for the Texas Refinery Corporation. He retired from Buckell Plastics as a machinist.
Earnie devoted a lot of his life to the Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where he served in multiple offices and wherever needed. He also enjoyed performing volunteer work at the Lewistown Hospital for many years. His love for the Lord and for people was shown through his visitations and Christ-centered ministries.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A second viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at Paintersville CMA Church, 3195 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Wright officiating.
Interment will take place at Paintersville CMA Church Cemetery.
