Elizabeth M. (Benner) Swineford

Elizabeth M. Swineford, 94, of Lewistown passed away at 4:21 a.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at Ohesson Manor.

Born Sept. 1, 1922 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Gruver) and John D. Benner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Roy T. Swineford, Sr., whom she married in 1940, and passed away on Nov. 16, 1990; twin babies, Peggy E. and Mary L. Swineford; and a daughter, Sue Ellen Swineford; and two brothers, Donald and William Benner.

She is survived by: her children, Roy T. Swineford, Jr. and wife, Charlene, John E. Swineford and wife, Carol, Carole Slemons, James A. Swineford and wife, Gail, Darwin L. Swineford, Vicki Curry and husband, Bud, Richard C. Swineford and wife, Cheryl, all of Lewistown; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one on the way; 18 great-great grandchildren and two on the way; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church., Trinity Friendship Class, Brooklyn Hose Company and Lady’s Auxiliary, and previous member of Brooklyn Drum & Bugle Corp. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 9 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. Kari Swigart officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 8 at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Lind memorial Cemetery.

Memorials in Elizabeth’s name may be made to: Trinity U.M.C.,428 S. Main St., Lewistown.   The family will provide all flowers.
