Ethel L. Flanagan, 102, formerly of Lewistown, passed away at 4:10 a.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at Memory Lane at Valley View, Belleville.
Born June 5, 1916, in South Fork, Cambria County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruie (Seese) Walter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Alfred E. Flanagan, Oct. 25, 2008; a grandson, Bobby Briar; and her brothers, Roy and Homer Walter.
She is survived by: children, Phyllis Shifflett, of Gettysburg, and Lewis "Gene" Flanagan and wife, Linda "Jean", of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Rick Briar and companion, Doris Trimmer, Connie Smith and husband, Ronald, Randy Flanagan and wife, Lisa, Mark Flanagan and wife, Deborah, and Nathan Flanagan and wife, Janel; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandson.
Ethel was a member of Lewistown Assembly of God Church.
She retired from the American Viscose Corporation, where she worked in the respooling shop.
Ethel enjoyed crocheting, cooking and taking care of her family. She was always active in her church and loved family events.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a funeral service at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Reverend Dennis Sproull officiating.
Interment will take place at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.
