Frances T. Del Vecchio, 85, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, at her home.
Born October 20, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Squire) Szymanski.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Del Vecchio on November 20, 2010.
She is survived by: her children, Michael Del Vecchio, of New Jersey, and Diane M. Carter and husband, Ricardo, of Lewistown; granddaughter, Victoria Del Vecchio; and her brother, John "Jack" Del Vecchio and wife, Angie, of Ohio.
Frances was a graduate of Bay Ridge High School in Brooklyn.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown.
Early in life while living in New York, she owned and operated a laundromat and worked as a medical secretary at Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn. She was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed helping young women develop the skills needed to become successful adults.
She later worked locally as a medical receptionist for Dr. Ricardo T. Carter.
Frances loved to crochet and do needlepoint to keep her hands busy, and would often make things for family and friends.
Her daughter's cocker spaniels, Johnny, Gizmo, Roscoe, and Vinny, often came to her house to visit. They were he "fur-grandkids" and brought her much happiness.
Frances was a very kind and giving person, who will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, March 2, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
