G. Jackson “Jack” Miller, 89, of Lewistown, passed away at 1:10 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Ohesson Manor.
Born Dec. 23, 1928, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Joseph S. Sr. and Esther A. (Biddle) Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Marjorie A. (Lofflin) Miller, on April 21, 2013; a son, Jon G. Miller in 2000; and his two brothers, Richard L. and Joseph S. Miller Jr. He was the last of his immediate family.
He is survived by: son, Scott J. Miller, of Altoona; four grandchildren, Jonathan H. Miller, of Dallas, Texas, Katie N. Lininger and husband, Jacob, of Dillsburg, Mackenzie A. Barket and husband, Jared, of Conshohocken, and Scott J. Miller II, of Hollidaysburg; and three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob and Juday Lininger.
Jack graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1946.
He was a member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewistown, and Lake United Methodist Church in Fort Myers, Fla., where he served on the general board of conference.
Jack was the founder, owner and operator of Miller’s Wholesale Florist Inc. in Altoona, Lewistown, and Williamsport, from 1950 until 1972. He retired in 1990.
He was a member of Elks Lodge 663 in Lewistown, and Hiram Masonic Lodge 616, Logan Masonic Lodge 490, and the Jaffa Shriners, in Altoona. Jack was the longest living member of Improved Dwellings for Altoona (I.D.A.) Inc., which manages affordable housing in Blair, Cambria, Centre and Clearfield Counties. He was also a longstanding member of the Rock Run Rod and Gun Club in Beech Creek.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
Private interment will take place in St. Mark’s Community Cemetery, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, 611 S. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
