George H. Kovalchick, 86, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:40 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at William Penn Nursing Home.
Born on Aug. 13, 1931, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Michael Kovalchick and Susannah (Charlton) Kovalchick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Kovalchick.
He is survived by: his wife, Anna K. (Park) Kovalchick, whom he married Nov. 22, 1961, of Lewistown, and niece; Eileen Kovalchick, of Arizona.
George was employed as a tax examiner for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. He retired after 40 plus years of service.
He served in the United States Army as a sergeant from 1950 to 1952.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, with a funeral service to follow at noon, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. Kurtis Swisher officiating.
Interment will take place in Mattawana Cemetery.
