Helen Miller Obituary

Helen Havice “Billie” Miller, 93, of Lewistown, formerly of Shaw Ave., Lewistown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019, at her home.

Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Burnham, she was a daughter of the late Jesse C. and Alice (Ward) Havice.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ken; sisters, Mary Swisher, Florence McCartney, Dorothy Harbst, G. Jeanne Stuckey and infant sister, Margaret; and brothers, James C. Havice Sr. and Jesse Havice.

She is survived by: children, Alice Jo Forgach-Strine and husband, Charles, of New Bern, N.C., and Marilyn M. Ward and husband, Paul, of Mechanicsburg; one sister, Shirley R. Hower, of Lewistown; two grandchildren, Joseph Forgach, of Tampa, Fla., and Adam Forgach, of Milroy; a sister-in-law, Beverly Miller, of Lewistown; special friend and caretaker, Robin; and the Angels Among Us that cared for her in her final hours.

She was a 1943 graduate of Burnham High School.

Billie was a long-standing member of First United Methodist Church. She sang in the sanctuary choir for 20 years and was a member of the Silver Star Sunday school class. She was a life member of the Mifflin County Historical Society.

She was a Mifflin County Chapter chairman of the National Foundation of March of Dimes from 1960 until 1970. She and her husband had the Mifflin County Harrisburg Patriot Franchise.

Helen was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed tailgating all her life. She also enjoyed life, people and had a great sense of humor up to the very end. She was a good Christian woman who loved music and her family.

A viewing will be held from 12 to 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Randy Hughes and Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.

Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery.

Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, is in charge of the arrangements.
