Herbert "Buddy" Mann, 90, of Alexandria, formerly of McVeytown and Lewistown, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1928 in Nanty Glo, Cambria County, he was a son of the late Charles H. and Pearl M. (Davis) Mann.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings; Frank and Albert Mann, Rosella Crotty, Vera Green, Rebecca Patterson, Dorothy Myers, Virginia Crouse and Grace Hossman. He was the last of his immediate family.
Herbert had an excellent work ethic and was devoted to his job at Skills Vocational Training Facility in Huntingdon. He preferred to be known as "Buddy" and worked well with his co-workers and staff. He was friendly, outgoing, a good conversationalist and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Buddy was always happy and quick to give a "hello" and smile to everyone.
Buddy remained active in his community throughout his life. He enjoyed bowling in the fall league at Holiday Lanes and attended bingo at Captain Jack's Lions Club, where he will be remembered for his lucky ducks that he set up at his table. Buddy had also volunteered at the Huntingdon County Humane Society where he adopted his cat, Jasper, through the Senior to Senior Program.
A viewing will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 4:30 p.m.
