Jack Darwin McCurdy, 79, of Lewistown, passed away at 9:58 p.m., Oct. 20, 2018, at the Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home in Hollidaysburg.
Born Feb. 27, 1939, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Guy McCurdy and Mary (Hockenberry) McCurdy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Beverly, who passed in June 2018; brother, Carl McCurdy; and sister, Bernice Hammond.
He is survived by: son, Darren “Mitch” McCurdy and wife, Tina, of Lewistown, and Marti McCurdy, of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson, Michael McCurdy; great-granddaughter, Mikenna McCurdy.
He was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
Jack served in the US Army in the years of 1956-1959. He was the owner/operator of McCurdy’s Excavating and he retired in 2003. He enjoyed traveling in the family RV to dirt track racing and sprint cars. Jack was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and he also loved snowmobiles and boating.
A funeral procession will meet at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, 2018, and travel to Juniata Memorial Park for a graveside service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Scott Andrews officiating, and Military Honors by VFW Post 7011.
