Joyce E. Tate

Joyce E. Tate, 80, formerly of Nolan Drive, Lewistown, passed away at 4:26 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2018, at Ohesson Manor.

Born Aug. 21, 1937, in Mifflintown, she was a daughter of the late Robert P. and Florence M. (Whitesel) Strutts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald L. Tate; siblings, Marlow Weirrick, Reba L. Ramsey, Eileen Heller and Marion Jane Strutts.

Joyce is survived by: four children, Lori Bankert and husband, Michael, of Pine Glen, Donald P. Tate and wife, Kim, of Lewistown, Kelly Banks and husband, Tad, of Lewistown, and Gregory “Scot”Tate, of Lewistown; 12 grandchildren, Matthew Logue, Nathan Logue and wife, Krista, Jennifer Sprunger and husband, Michael, Olivia Bankert, Nicholas Bankert, Samantha Bankert, Christopher Tate and wife, Ashley, Kari Kenepp and husband, Jeremy, Tabitha Newton and husband, Gregg, Justin Wendorf and wife, Carrie, Jessie Reed and husband Michael, and Gregory Tate and wife, Lauren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was a Lewistown- Granville High School graduate, Class of 1955.

Joyce was a member of the Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

She worked as a bookkeeper/accounting clerk for; Joe Katz, Glick Shoe Fly, Posey Corner and the Russell National Bank.

Earlier in life, she enjoyed participating in a bowling league. Joyce had a love for flowers and gardening. She enjoyed going to the beach. Joyce loved spending time with her friends and family and would often go for walks at Kish Park.

A Receiving of Friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, (Woodlawn), 200 N. Main St. Lewistown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, (Woodlawn), Lewistown, with the Rev. Neil Breneman officiating.

Interment will take place in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
