Lloyd L. Bickhart

Lloyd L. Bickhart, 86, of Lewistown, passed away at 1:45 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Locust Grove, Mifflin.

Born Nov. 13, 1930, in Yeagertown, he was a son of the late George Alfred and Elizabeth C. (Comp) Bickhart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores J. (Snook), whom he married April 27, 1952; siblings, Charles Bickhart, Susie Wagner, George Bickhart, Anna Zeiders, Ida McMinn and Ralph Bickhart.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon K. Marsh and husband, Pete, of Lewistown and a sister, Rachel Eby and husband, Harvey, of Lewistown.

Lloyd was a graduate of Derry Township High School, class of 1949.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp.  Lloyd was a member of Juniata Area Detachment #687 of The Marine Corps League as a Department Chaplain.

Earlier in life, he worked at Russell R. Snook Plastering & Cement Masonry as a master craftsman, Standard Steel, and then retired from Avtex Fibers as an industrial mechanic, (TWU) Textile member. 

He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, roller skating and going to McDonald’s for coffee.

Lloyd was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Viewings will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7 and from 10 – 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8 with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Pastor Jerri Carlin officiating.

Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery with military honors provided by Marine Corp. League, Juniata County.
