Margaret A. Karschner, 90, of Lewistown, entered into rest Jan. 1, 2020, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Emory and Elsie (Swisher) McMaster.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Norman, who passed away in September of 2019; a granddaughter, Alaina Kensinger; and nine siblings.
Margaret is survived by three children: Martha Karschner, of Belleville, Patrick Karschner (Vicki), of Broomfield, Colorado, and Nancy Kensinger (Edward), of Martinez, Ga. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and is survived by seven: Heather Benner, Leslie Miller (Christopher), Jeremy Karschner (Meghan), Randi Ranck (Joshua), Joel Karschner (Shaeanne), Jason Kensinger (Chelsea), and Lindsey Motter (Justin). She also had 11 great-grandchildren and three surviving siblings: sister, Julia McCrory, of Wilmington, Del., twin sister, Martha Snyder, of Belleville, and brother, Larry McMaster, of Burnham.
Early in their marriage, Margaret worked for the Lewistown Shirt Factory, but quickly decided to follow her true calling as a stay-at-home mom and homemaker - a job at which she excelled.
Margaret enjoyed life immensely and loved to laugh. She was happiest when surrounded by family in her kitchen where she loved to cook. She loved her family with a fierce and selfless love and worked hard for them every day. Above all, though, was her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church where she sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class. She attended faithfully until stricken with Alzheimer's and was unable to attend.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
