She was an herbologist and made a variety of tinctures and salves that she gave to friends and family. Her Comfrey salve was very effective at treating muscle pain and was used by many of her friends. She enjoyed working with leaded glass and repaired many old leaded glass windows which became quite valuable.
She was an active volunteer with the Adult Education Center in Mifflin County and was recognized as an outstanding math tutor. After moving to Juniata County from Yeagertown, she was the first and longest serving volunteer at the Juniata County Food Pantry serving as long as her illness permitted.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lewistown and attended Pine Grove United Methodist after moving to Mifflintown. She was active in various ministries at both churches during her journey here.
She loved her cabin by the water, which hosted many gatherings of family and friends.
