Martha Reeder Obituary

Martha Jane “Martye” (Vandermark) Reeder, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at home with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Genvia Vandermark.

She is survived by: her husband, Russell Reeder; two daughters, April Cline and husband, Lonnie, of Chambersburg, and Jennifer Knepper and husband, Craig, of McConnellsburg; sister, Peggy Reagan and husband, Clint, of Fairhope, Ala.; niece, Erin Reagan, of Fairhope, Ala.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Martye was a member of the Mountain View Mennonite Church. She enjoyed serving the Lord by doing Bible studies. She also liked reading, knitting, taking care of her animals and socializing with friends and family.

During her life, she was a caterer and day care worker. As an elder Sunday school teacher, she was part of their prison ministry and shoebox ministry. She volunteered at the library, American Red Cross, Reedsville Blood Drive, Thrift and Gift and Meals on Wheels.

At Martye’s request, her body will be donated to science. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Big Valley Thrift and Gift, 35 Walnut St., Belleville, PA 17004.
