Mary L. Carolus, 76, of Big Pine Key, Florida, and formerly of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at Hospice House in Vero Beach, Fla.
Born March 18, 1942, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Fern Steele Sr. and Erma (Confer) Steele.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Earl E. Carolus on June 28, 2016; brothers, Roy, Russell and Robert Hunt; and a sister, Katherine Miller.
Mary is survived by: her daughters, Melinda C. Hite and husband, Dan, and Cindy L. Fink and husband, Scott, both of Florida; a granddaughter, Kamesha H. Carolus, of Kentucky; and siblings, William Hunt, of McVeytown; Esther Walters and Betty Pandel, both of Burnham; and Fern Steele Jr., of Lewistown.
She graduated from Lewistown High School.
Mary attended, and was saved at The Brethren in Christ Church in Granville.
She was employed by First National Bank in Lewistown as an executive secretary for many years. Later, she did data entry at Lewistown Hospital.
Her family was always her focus throughout her life and Mary loved everything she did with her daughters and granddaughter. In recent years, she enjoyed alternating living arrangements between her daughters' homes, and the sunshine and scenery of the "Keys." Mary cherished the opportunity to share special moments with each of her daughters and it brought them closer as a family.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, 2019, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at the funeral home, with Rev. John Walters officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
