Richard L. Deavor, 84, of Lewistown, went to be with his heavenly father at 11:57 a.m., Thursday, November 22, 2018, at his home.
Born July 15, 1934, in Saluvia, Fulton County, he was a son of the late Merrill E. and Mary G. (Marker) Deavor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Anna B. (Weaver) Deavor on Nov. 7, 2006; brothers, Robert and James Deavor; and a sister, Phyllis Booher.
Richard is survived by: his children, Mary Romig and husband, Larry, of Mifflintown, Harry Deavor and companion, Verna Fultz, Cynthia Deavor Burge and husband, Harold, Daniel Deavor, and Teresa Lynn Deavor, all of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Shelly Romig Williams, Larry Joe Romig, Richard Romig, Ann Burge Partida, Darla Burge, Scott A. Deavor, and Erica L. Deavor; 16 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Gerald Deavor and wife, Brenda, of McVeytown, Janice Oldt, of Lewistown, David Deavor, of McVeytown, Kenny Deavor, of Dillsburg, Leon Deavor Sr. and wife, Margaret, of New York, Sara Specht, of Lewistown, and Clair Deavor and wife, Carolyn, of Claysburg; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Moore and husband, Billy, of Alabama.
He was a longstanding member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees and administrative board, helped in the kitchen and was a greeter for many years.
Richard was employed at Margers Inc., then Masland Industries/Lear Corporation as a press operator, from which he retired.
Richard was a life member of the Fame and Henderson Fire Companies. He enjoyed hunting and camping, loved ice cream and eating at Yetter's Restaurant, being around family and friends and tinkering. He was always there for anyone who needed help.
A viewing will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Chris Lutz officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
