Velma L. "Sis" Greer, 86, formerly of Lewistown, and of Cottonwood, Ala., passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at Hill View Assisted Living in Graceville, Fla.
Born March 31, 1932, in Port Matilda, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Blanche (Traxler) Woods. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Nelson Greer; a brother, Harold Woods; and sisters, Arlene Kline and Delores Fort.
She is survived by: son, Bruce Long and wife, Lisa, of Cottonwood, Ala.; grandsons, Joshua Long, James F. Booney II, Michael Booney and Justin Booney; great-grandchildren, Rylee Long, Savannah Booney, Mason Long and James F. Booney III; and siblings, Robert Woods and wife, Rose, Dale Woods and wife, Jessica, Donald Woods and wife, Ann, all of New Jersey, and Millie Smithers, of Hickory, N.C.
Velma graduated from Lewistown High School.
She was Lutheran by faith.
In her earlier years, she was employed locally at G. C. Murphy's, Montgomery Ward and Jamesway.
Sis was a life member of the Brooklyn Fire Company and member of the VFW Post 7011 Ladies Auxiliary in Lewistown. She enjoyed making ceramics and crafts in her younger days.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at the funeral home, with Rev. Kurtis Swisher officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
