William Mohr Obituary

William S. “Bill” Mohr, 67, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019, at his home.

Born April 7, 1952, in Altoona, he was a son of the late Lt. Col. R.F. Mohr and Betty L. (Cartwright) Mohr.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; wife, Diane M. Mohr, who passed in April 2019; a daughter, Sherry Wilt; and two brothers, Ronald F. and James Albert Mohr; and a sister, Peggy Linn.

He is survived by; children, Carol-Ann Knouse, and husband, Scott, of Lewistown, and Michael “Mike” Mohr and wife, Nikol, of Lewistown; eight grandchildren; a sister, Linda Beard, and husband, Ted, of North Carolina; brothers, Gary Mohr and wife, Lanna, of Missouri, and Thomas J. Mohr and wife, Deb, of Lewistown.

He was a Chief Logan High School graduate, Class of 1969.

William was a member of the Eagles Club, American Legion and a life member of the Brooklyn Hose Company.

After graduating high school, Bill entered the United States Navy from 1972-1975, alongside his brother, James Mohr. He was part of the crew aboard the USS Lexington, CV-16, World War II-vintage Essex Class aircraft carrier that was built during World War II for the U.S. Navy.

Bill was a retiree from Norfolk Southern, he worked on the railroad as part of the tie gang.

Earlier in life, he enjoyed shooting pool. He was an avid Penn State football and NASCAR fan.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Interment will be private at Mount Rock Cemetery, with a private committal service for the family at the cemetery, with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011.
