William Reed Obituary

William G. “Jerry” Reed, of Lewistown, passed away on June 4, 2018.

Born Nov. 21, 1954, in Indiana, Pa., he was a son of the late Ward Alexander and Geraldine Lucille (Hastie) Reed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Debbi Lee, and a niece, Rana.

He is survived by: his wife, Valerie Reed, of Burnham; children, Scott Nalley and wife, Britt, of Virginia, Jaire Jours, of North Carolina, Quin Shaffer and husband, Charles, of Chambersburg, Michelle A. Reed, of North Carolina; four grandsons; three granddaughters; siblings, Debra A. Tillery and husband, Pete, and Ward P. Reed, all of Ohio; three nephews; three great-nephews and one great-niece.

He is a 1973 graduate of Girard High School.

He attended the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsville. He was a charter member of PA Chapter 7 of Rolling Thunder.

William dedicated his life to the Army, retiring in 1993. He was very proud of his work as MP, physical security and personal protection while working in Germany, working with German police. He enjoyed hunting camp and spending time with family and his dogs.

A receiving of friends will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Reedsville, with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m., with Pastor Carla Voland officiating.

Following the services, all are invited to step outside and be part of Military Honors by VFW Post 7011 and participate in a butterfly release.
