Bertha L. (Shumaker/Davison) Dalton, 92, with love, sorrow, and the fondest of memories, the family of Bertha (Shumaker/Davison) Dalton announces her quiet passing on July 22, 2021. She crossed over in Edmonds, WA. where she was living with her son and his family.
Born Nov. 19, 1928, in Strodes Mills, she was a daughter of the late Mabel Miller Shumaker and H. Wayne Shumaker.
She’s survived by; a son, Michael Davison and wife, Cecelia Davison; granddaughters, Tara Janicki, of Seattle, Cyann Snowden, of Whitefish, Montana, Leah Stewart of Stamford, Conn, Taylor Davison, of Seattle; and six great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of Gene Shumaker, H. Wayne “Skip” Shumaker, and Marietta (Shumaker) Harpster.
Valedictorian of her Lewistown class, she went on to marry James W. Davison of Yeagertown and lived in the Pocono Mountains until his death in 1969. She married Fritz Dalton, of Buck Hill Falls, Pa. in 1972.
She was a loving sister, wife, and mother, and Executive Assistant during her professional career.
Her favorite place in the world was when she was surrounded by friends and family, and she enjoyed many raucous adventures with the extended Davison and Shumaker families.
Bertha (Bertie) will be fondly remembered for her giving spirit and innate ability to make and keep lifelong friends.
A receiving of friends and family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
Private interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
