Betty L. Bay, 79, of Lewistown, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at her home.
Born on September 25, 1944, in Dothan, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Jeralline ‘Alberta’ (Deen) Corson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Earl Bay who passed on February 5, 2024.
She is survived by; children, Laura Brought and husband, Scott, Carrie Forshey and husband, Joe, Rob Bay and wife, Steph; nine grandchildren, Eric Brought and fiancée, Samanta Jeller, Nicholas Brought and girlfriend, Sara Scott, Greg Forshey and wife, Mandy, Katie Wilson and husband, Allen, Deanna Davis, Jocelyn Sunderland, Olivia, Braelyn and Myla Bay; great-granddaughters, Amelia and Samantha Forshey, Isabella Wilson; and a brother, Lanny Silks and wife, Deb, of Milroy.
Betty was a member of Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yeagertown.
She was a Chief Logan High School graduate, Class of 1962.
Betty worked as a clerk at GC Murphy and Co., a long-distance operator at Bell Telephone and a receptionist at Krentzman & Sons and a teacher’s aide at Tuscarora Intermediate Unit.
She was the bell choir director; junior choir director and she sang in the adult choir. She taught Bible school.
She loved bird watching, stargazing, rides in the mountains, traveling, picnics and the times when the family would get together. She was a Steelers and Penn State football fan. She also loved going to watch gymnastics and basketball at Penn State.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the funeral home, with Rev. Carla Volland officiating.
Interment following the funeral service at Juniata Memorial Park cemetery.
