Betty C. Brought

Betty C. Brought, 94, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

She was born on March 24, 1926, in Yeagertown, and was a daughter of the late Reinhard and Mary (Wheeler) Kuppel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, William N. Brought, who she married May 26, 1944; siblings, Helen E. Schomer, Anna A. Kuppel, Clarence Kuppel, Earl Kuppel, Betty was the last of her immediate family; nieces and nephews, Mary Mae Kauffman, Robert Walters, and MaryLou Barger.

She is survived by: nieces and nephews, Pamela Fultz, Audrey Deyarmin, James Schomer, Thomas Schomer, Carol Toscano, Betty Weaver, Shar Shingler, Jane Bender, Thomas Walters, William Bearley, Leroy Bearley, Barry Kuppel, Carolyn Brought, James Brought, Kenneth Brought, and Melinda Fisher; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-great-nieces and nephews.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Yeagertown High School.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown. She taught Sunday School for many years and taught in the church Nursery School for 8 years. A member of Miriam Circle and the Altar Guild, member of Augsburg’s Sunday School Class. Betty was an original member of the quilting group called the Piece Maker’s, at St. John’s Church, and a member of the pinochle card club for 58 years.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to Noon, Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main Street, Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at Noon with Pastor Jim Schomer officiating.

Interment will be held at Mount Rock Cemetery following the funeral service.
