Beverly A. (Reed) Byrd, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 17, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS. Though she fought hard, she never lost faith in the Lord and shared that faith and love with all those around her.
She was born on October 28, 1951, in York, and was the daughter of the late Alex and Sylvia Napikoski.
She is survived by two siblings, Linda (Bill ) Lieberknecht of York, and Eddie (Rose) Wolf of McVeytown; two daughters Gerri (Jack) Yeager and Wendy (Robert) Vinson; three grandchildren, Alyssa (Brady) Specht, Chelsea (Tyler) Sipe, and Aidan Vinson; two great-grandchildren, Jayda and Frankie Thomas
She was a member of Bethel AME church where she was a faithful servant of the Lord. Teaching scripture, preparing community meals at the Hope Center and she volunteered at the homeless shelter.
Beverly graduated from Lewistown-Granville High School, Class of 1970, Central Florida Community College in 1995, and York Technical Institute in 2005.
She formerly worked at Fisher/Sanyo Audio, the Marion county sheriff’s dept. and First Quality.
Beverly was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, writing poetry and short stories. She cherished time with her family and friends. She loved cooking for everyone and sharing her faith.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Bethel AME church, 23 N. Juniata St., Lewistown. All are welcome.
Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 1st Ave., Burnham.
