Bruce Alvin Burlew, 70, of Lewistown, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021, at his home.
Born May 10, 1951, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late E. Frank and Una L. (Edmiston) Burlew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki M. (Watson) Burlew, whom he married Feb. 24, 1973, on May 10, 2020.
Bruce is survived by: daughter, Amy N. Mannino and companion, Shane Craig, of Milton; grandchildren, Gavin, Gage and Ella Mannino; his sister, Jane Detweiler and husband, Bret, of White Hall; sister-in-law, Lesa Griffin and husband, James, of Sunbury; and brother-in-law, Richard Watson, of Lewistown.
Bruce was a Lewistown High School graduate.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971 during the Vietnam Conflict.
Bruce was employed as a lineman for Hinkel and McCoy from 1972 to 1974; as a police officer for Lewistown Borough and Mifflin County Regional Police Dept. from 1974 to 2000; and lastly, for Zimmerman Truck Lines, Mifflintown, from 2005 to 2008.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church; Fraternal Order of Police; VFW Post 15040 National Lodge; and United Commercial Travelers of America.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to Noon, Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown. The funeral service will follow at Noon, with Pastor Steve Small officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bruce’s memory may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
