Charles W. Hoar Sr., 90, of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2025, at William Penn Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born September 5, 1935, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Charles H. Hoar and Helen V. (Freed) Hoar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Doreen (Sellers) Hoar and his second wife, Mabel M. Jane (Wagner) Hoar, daughter, Deb Moyer, stepdaughter, Norma McCardleAddleman, son-in-law James Miller; brother, Calvin Hoar and his sisters, Julia McPherson and Shirley Johnson.

Charles is survived by his children, Charles W. Hoar Jr. and wife, Rose, John Hoar, Peggy Trutt and husband, Scott, and Cara Lou Miller all of Lewistown, stepchildren, Kim Hartzler of McVeytown and Russel McCardle of Milroy as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Burnham High School class of 1955.

Early in life, Charles worked for Beaver Brothers Bakery. He worked at Harper’s Distribution for 17 years and then retired from Nabisco Biscuit Company.

He was a member of the Salvation Army in addition to being a life member of East Derry Fire Company, City Hook and Ladder and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #143.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 200 N. Main Street, Lewistown.
