Charles E. Kahley, 77, of Lewistown, passed away at 10:25 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Celebration Villa of Reedsville.
Born April 27, 1945, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Alvin E. and Irene (Leister) Kahley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: wife, Catherine A. (Fultz) Kahley, whom he married April 13, 1974, on Oct. 19, 2021; brothers, Robert and Paul Kahley; sisters, Mary Zimmerman and Shirley Bishop; and a great-granddaughter, Marriah Franklin.
Charles is survived by: daughters, Nicole L. Hate and husband, Shanen, of Halifax, and Sheri L. Snook and husband, Scott, of Lewistown; sisters, Jane Martz and Helen Condron and husband, William, of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Jared Fryberger, Briana Franklin and husband, Melvin, Allee Snook, Gabrielle Hate and Tristan Hate; and great-granddaughter, Kinzley Franklin.
He was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1963.
Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1963 to 1969 during the Vietnam War.
He was Protestant by faith and an avid hunter and fisherman, who was affectionately known as “Muskie Madman”.
He was employed by Jarden Plastics in Reedsville as a shipping supervisor. He retired in 2004 with 31 years of service.
Private interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park at the convenience of the family, with military honors by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
The family wishes to extend special thanks and appreciation to the entire staff at UPMC Hospice for their care and compassion provided to Charles, especially Lauren Clark.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charles’ memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
