Charles W. Whiteman Obituary

Charles W. Whiteman, 73, of Lewistown, passed away on Friday December 6, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.


Born September 6, 1951, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late William J. Whiteman  and Ethel M. (Lehman) Whiteman.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Seiler; siblings, Beatrice Stimely and Clarence ‘Andy’ Whiteman.


He is survived by his children, Deborah M. Miller and husband, Matt, of Lewistown, Richard Quick and wife, Karen, of New York, Christopher Seiler, of Lewistown, Laura Lash and husband, Christopher, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Dakota Wileman, Lance Miller, Anthony Miller, Alyssa Miller and Addelynn Lash; and a brother, James Shotzberger and wife, Molly, of Fredericksburg.


Charles was a 1970 graduate from Rondout Valley High School in New York.


He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.


Charles worked as a cook at Red’s Diner.


He loved his family especially his grandchildren, and dog Spooky. He enjoyed baseball and softball; umpiring and coaching Little League. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Miami Dolphins.


A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m., Pastor Max Zook officiating and special services provided by Juniata County Veterans Council.
