Clyde Roger Gingerich, 72, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2021, Perry Village, New Bloomfield, after an illness.
Born September 14, 1948, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Clyde and Catherine (Roskey) Gingerich.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; brothers, Philip E. Gingerich and George E. Gingerich; sisters, Shirley G. (Gingerich) Hetrick, and Evelyn Gingerich.
He is survived by; siblings, Frederick E. Gingerich, of Lewistown; nieces and nephews, DeWayne Chamberlain, of Mechanicsburg, DonDarren Hetrick, of LeMoyne, Michael S. Gingerich, of State College, Toni (Gingerich) Himes, of Philadelphia, Philip E. Gingerich, Jr., of Reedsville, Mark A. Gingerich, of Timonium, MD, and Cynthia Gingerich, of Birmingham, AL.
Clyde was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1967, and he studied at Edinboro University.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Roger, as he was commonly known, formerly worked at Lewistown Hospital and did volunteer work in the community.
Roger liked shopping and watching old movies. He was a Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan. He was associated with the Hitchcock Railway; he wrote songs for them. He played little league baseball and pitched for McVeytown against Longfellow at the height of his youth. Roger loved playing basketball with Gary Larson and short and long shots with his friends.
A viewing will be held from Noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., with Father Peter Rettig officiating.
Interment will take place in Mount Rock Cemetery.
